A group of young boys picks on a kid that acts like a little girl. Not in the literal feminine way but rather in that he deals in gossip, ruins their fun by bringing girls into boy activities, and snitches to teachers. They call him gay for it. All of a sudden, the school psychologist, embodying the role of the village matriarch, comes to beat them over the head about how they can’t “discriminate”. I find it funny that this needs to be explained but being rebellious, mischievous, unruly, and all-together a danger to the status quo is a core part of being a boy and a man.
Much has been said about the notion of “community” by contemporary political and intellectual conservatism. This is largely in response to the growth of faceless, ugly megalopolises that oppress all those who are unfortunate enough to reside within. Nobody knows each other, nobody wants to hear what you have to say or help you, and there is a total lack of mutual respect — an enormous mass that moves like a river across the streets, into offices, malls, shops, and the like. However, I warn you, young men of the West, community is not what it’s idealized to be, and it’s not meant for you. The conservatives that exalt community as some form of ideal state of being are mistaken, since they have confused civilization with small town or village life. The two are opposites. In this way, egalitarianism (which is often synonymous with the political left) is far closer to the ideal of “community”.
Before continuing, we must define community, or rather tribal community, for the purposes of further discussion. Any group of individuals who share culture, race, language, religion, politics, or utilitarian resources and goals in the same physical space, share knowledge, help, and partake in forms of rituals can be called a community. They not only work together to further joint goals but also regulate behaviors between members to maintain a certain status quo and tradition. This latter point is especially important to political and intellectual conservatives who claim that this is one of the main reasons why the current degradation of social life seems to be so prevalent.
To start off, many say that families are the most basic units of society. This isn’t true, or rather, is missing an equally important point. While it is true that without the family you can’t have a society, just having a collection of families isn’t a society — it’s a tribe. Tribes consist of various families that are totally egalitarian, except for the tribe elder or religious figure who holds some sway over the totality. They all engage in various everyday rituals and behaviors such as hunting, cooking, storytelling, and gossiping while sharing resources, knowledge, produce, and help. To form a society, and later a civilization, out of a tribe you need the other, often overlooked, component – warriors that impose their will on the tribe. These can either be young men from within the tribe or outside invaders who enslave the tribe. Once a group of people who are dangerous rise above mere tribal subsistence living and offer protection from nearby tribes in return for food or women, you have a hierarchy and start to see the contours of a society. This new group of overlords will soon begin to impose certain rules to give themselves and, by extension, the tribe a better chance of competing with other tribes or the environment. They will introduce agricultural quotas, clothing quotas, standardized education in hunting and fighting etc. Such things are the precursors of laws. Eventually, one group of overlords will conquer more tribes, and this will morph into a feudal arrangement with class distinctions as this, now society, requires a vast array of occupations to sustain itself. It is here that we arrive at a crucial point — inequality. While tribes and their communities are characterized by egalitarianism, to have a society and civilization you need a group of people who stand out by virtue of their abilities, risk-taking, dangerous living, and new ideas of what could be done with the community. Such people are the opposite of the average communal villager and tribesman, they are different in their biological make-up and represent the finest of what the tribe has to offer. Paradoxically, the same tribe will attempt to stifle their growth and nip them in the bud, since they are a danger to the traditional, subsistence-level living of toiling the fields and sleeping. Inequality and competition between groups are the cornerstones of life on this planet. The tribes that still exist today have retained their communal way of being, even as empires rose and fell, technology advanced, and the world changed around them. Their egalitarian self-regulation destroys growth and change.
Speaking spiritually, almost all communities are feminine in their nature. They value conformism, peace, risk aversion, stability, and have a mothering instinct of maintaining the status quo by either teaching community members of communal ways or violently shunning anyone who dares step outside the norm. For this reason, the vast majority of teachers, bureaucrats, and psychologists in the modern world are women. Their femininity is best suited to these kinds of managerial, controlling roles, regardless of political attempts to foster inclusion in other occupations. Furthermore, the devastating results that this mothering instinct can have is visible in some mother-daughter relations. A kind of “friend” relationship develops between the two and eventually the mother comes to control the daughter’s life, crushing her self-esteem, shunning her, and metaphorically devouring her in an almost child-sacrificing way, akin to real tribal behaviors. In other words, the evil stepmother/mother archetype of various folklore and media where the princess is locked by the queen in a castle. This maternal devouring is the default state of communities.
On the other hand, civilization is masculine. It includes smaller communities and their femininity under its mighty wings, but the structures, institutions, laws, visions, and political and societal goals are masculine. They arise out of the male instincts of domination, violence, risk-taking, rebelliousness that breaks tribal norms, and tendency to give order and stability, hence why civilization has complex structures that hold it together. All this is possible only with inequality and not by egalitarianism, which fears and hates those that stand out.
Speaking politically, this is why communist and socialist movements failed in the West, contrary to Marx’s beliefs. The West is individualistic and fosters a culture of agency and entrepreneurialism. Capitalism is, partially, the West’s true spiritual expression since it relies on risk-taking and competition. By contrast, socialism succeeded in Slavic, Eurasian, and Asian societies because of their inherent communal way of living. There is the Japanese proverb that says: “The nail that sticks out gets hammered”, or the the Chinese proverb: “The tallest tree gets blown over by the wind.” East Asian societies are well-known for their shame-oriented society, in which an individual’s failure brings dishonor to the entire family and lineage, again showing their communalism. When one looks at the European or American farmer and peasant, you will see a very productive and entrepreneurial person. He expands his land, buys mechanization, educates himself and his children, and builds a business around his farm skills and knowledge. The eastern peasant has none of this. He toils in the field and produces just enough for himself, his children largely abandon the little commune to find a better life somewhere else, leaving behind literally thousands of villages only inhabited by old people across much of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. He lives his days half-drunk and revers village gatherings where he gossips, eats free food, and gets more alcohol. Communism relies on these kinds of passive, communal living spaces to survive. Places where everybody knows what you are up to, gossip about you, and have a total lack of understanding of personal space or private time. Look at any Asian village or even some cities and you will see endless hordes of people practically falling over each other, shops and food stands on every corner, family homes open to the public with all ten members skulking about just outside.
There are other forms of community that are more appealing to young men. The egalitarianism of the village or small town isn’t for you. Previously, the right place for men was in the warband — a group of virile warriors who give in to their instinctual drive towards adventure and conquest, giving form to their lives and those whom they conquered, molding history. In contemporary times, men overwhelmingly form sports clubs, gyms, political parties, cultural assemblies, gangs, alterative cultural forms such as, rock, or some form of extremism. All this is opposed to egalitarianism, which views personal agency and differentiation with distain. I warn against both the fetishized “tribal community-worship” of the political right and the obsession with equality, which is the praxis of a tribal community, from the political left. The tendency of every tribal community and even calcified civilization, which has lost its purpose, is to prevent the rise of great, powerful people. Such individuals break community norms and are a serious danger to the matriarchal spirit of control and subsistence. They are exceptions, typhoons, accidents, which dare question established concepts. They are the enemy of ideas and ways of living that are protected by the overbearing mother (the egalitarian state), that stifles the growth of her children out of fear. They are a bomb that needs to be diffused at all costs, otherwise they will take power from the mediocre, who find their shelter among the majority.
To borrow inspiration from Spengler, man as a species belongs to predators, not to the herd. He is inventive, cruel, ambitious, and dominating. Man is a beast of willpower that yearns towards possession and not towards the spirit of the prey animal that lacks an inner sovereignty and therefore groups together. Prey seeks safety in numbers, the predator relays on his own abilities. The herd has no center, it migrates from field to field as if under the rule of a hivemind. The pack, on the other hand, has an alpha that possesses the pack, has a den, and a clearly defined territory. All this is his possession, which the predator has conquered and earned through his dangerousness. The egalitarians want man to be a herd animal, and this is why they are opposed to personal agency, private property (in extreme leftism), agitate for the taxation of wealth, regulation, and so forth. It is the tyranny of sheep over the wolf, over those for whom they know are strong in themselves and whom, in the herds’ inner weakness, they seek to destroy out of fear and envy. These people are, spiritually, slaves. The egalitarian state, the community, the herd should care for everybody they cry! The faults of the individual are not his own but rather of “the other” (the capitalist, the patriarchy, racism, inequality and so forth). The pack and the herd are opposites – the former is a brotherhood-under-arms while the latter is egalitarian tyranny. The predator can never truly be domesticated while the herbivore is already domesticated. The predator might conform to certain conditions such as a steady food supply and shelter, but inwardly he is still sovereign. You see this in cats and dogs as the most obvious examples. The herbivore is passive, always on the lookout for potential threats and always ready to flee, hence his eye placement. The predator is active, a will acts through him. He must plan, innovate, adapt, and execute. Egalitarianism, and all ideas, ideologies, spirits, and actions associated with or springing from it are repulsive. The felling of profound nihilism, captivity, and lack of sovereignty permeate through every egalitarian system. It is the system of the terrified herd that might at any time be ripped apart by the pack. In revenge for this natural disadvantage, it will impose a totalitarian dictatorship if it comes to rule over the pack.
The left-right divide is, in mainstream circles, considered to be a progress-tradition divide with the left championing change while the right wishing to return to the past. And certain sections of the left and of the right are like that, but that is not really correct. The problem is that social justice, and its current form of wokeism (way overused word), is the modus operandi of the egalitarian tribe where the mass “cancels” you because you dared to say something against the norm. Egalitarianism wishes to regress back to the tribe. Hierarchy is a natural structure which protects the few who are more intelligent, more capable, wealthier, and more influential from being torn apart by the mediocre mob.
A staunch leftist feminist once told me: “I would either introduce the death penalty or castration for rape.” As this policy idea came out of her, her eyes flickered with totalitarianism, while body language was uncertain and afraid. The issue isn’t so much with the punishment as is with the reason this kind of punishment was chosen. She would outsource defense onto the state, onto the bureaucracy. These people exert power through the community, they think that majority consensus is truth, this is why they want equality – because on the personal level they are incapable of agency, instead opting to force others down to their level, via egalitarianism, and then killing them. Rape is only a facade, a cover, while the real target is anyone who dares be unlike them. I warn against this.
The case of Trump, whom I will mention because he is an interesting phenomenon in our gay times, is noteworthy here. The managerial liberal democracy of the West hates people like Trump. Instead of following “civil debate” he insults his opponents, instead of being a male feminist he has a supermodel wife, instead of following established economic or political practices he introduces protectionism and threatens to destabilize long-standing structures such as NATO. The levelling instinct of the tribe rears its head and attacks him. It can’t stand this.
I warn you against equality because you will end up having mediocre people with few redeeming qualities rule over those who are beautiful creations of nature. These preachers of equality don’t even have to have actual power, all they need is to have faceless masses on their side, and since the majority likes to hear about how they are all equal and have value, they will listen to the preachers. They will shun you for what you have to say, block you from speaking, appeal to the authorities to defend themselves, institute tribal, open-air courtrooms that dish out sentence after sentence for anyone who dares question the communal status quo. As others have already written, these egalitarians claim to be driven by compassion but are instead fueled by a titanic hatred of the well-turned-out and beautiful. Grow your unique skills and ideas, express your inner instincts for conquest and adventure, push the boundaries, find new forms and structures, build and create, don’t accept the tribe’s levelling values, and hope that the spark of novelty and curiosity of a young man making a name for himself doesn’t leave you until the end, even when new priorities govern your life and you begin to settle into old age. Fight like hell against the commune. Your place is on the frontier, in the forests, and on the boundaries. You are destined to lead the pack, not be an equal in the tribe.
